Kids these days don’t know how good they have it. When we were little we used to throw our Nerf footballs in the snow and rain… up hill both ways. And we never complained. But you kids and your fancy toys and your “Nerf Blitz” footballs that don’t soak up every drop of water around, you will never know the meaning of diehard.
The Nerf football of my youth was all the rage, and usually lasted for years and years of play even as its condition deteriorated, which is probably why you will never see a Nerf football from the 1980s that doesn’t have the rubber coating nicked in multiple spots so the yellow Nerf foam beneath shows through. These holes and scratches weren’t usually much of a problem, unless the ball got wet due to snow, rain, wet ground or pool use, and then that lightweight football would suddenly weigh 30 times its original weight and become less and less accurate in its swollen and soggy state.
With 40 years of innovation from the designers at Nerf, the children of today won’t have to deal with these frustrations. The Nerf Weather Blitz All Conditions Football is designed specifically to be played in the nastiest, dirtiest place you can come up with, and it’s made extra tough to be able to take all the punishment you can dream up.
The first layer of protection is an ultra tough weather resistant coating to easily shed off water. On top of that, the normal football stripes and seams are done in a thicker rubber which allows for extra ridges and texture to grip on to. This thicker rubber is also coated over both tips of the ball to protect the ends from the inevitable impacts with the ground. As if that weren’t enough, they added rubber finger grips on two sides so your fingers lock right into place for a perfect throw, and outlining the opposite circumference of the ball is yet another rubber ridge which is designed to help you catch the ball as well as add another layer of strength and protection.
All of this reinforcing and texturing makes it easy to play with wet, muddy or even snowy hands and still land the perfect catch. Please remind your kids how great they have it. Not everyone gets to play football in the rain… or at the beach… or in the snow.
